Heer Usadadiya clearly enjoyed battling with his colleagues at the Uganda Aquatics Swimming Championships held July 2-6 at Kampala Parents School, Naguru.
The Aqua Akii swimmer turned 16 prior to the short course Nationals but the 15-16 age group was a familiar battling ground for him.
He started off with 800m freestyle gold in the men’s open category clocking a relaxed 9:00.02.
Heer then topped the age group in 100m backstroke with 1:02.47.
He also won the age group’s 200m butterfly (2:18.70), 200m backstroke (2:14.53), 200m free (2:00.45).
His 29.74 in the 50m backstroke, however, pushed him to third behind Peterson Inhensiko (28.65) and Ethani Ssengooba (29.32).
He was also third in 100m freestyle (55.80) behind Ethani (55.11) and Isaiah Kuc (55.49). He was 3rd in the 100m butterfly (1:02.57) too – behind Isaiah (1:00.15) and Ethani (1:01.23).
He completed his 50m free in 26.53 seconds to finish 8th but was undone by the organisers’ decision to cancel the 200m individual medley and 400m freestyle.
In the end, he ranked second in the age group with four gold and three silver medals. Peterson topped with four gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
